Learning Reflection (2nd) of Seminar in English language Teaching Course
For this week, teacher assigned me to discuss about global English, ESL, EFL and EIL in group. After that, every groups have to present the discussion in front of the class.
The knowledge that I learned as followed:
1. Global English : Global English refers to the use of the English language as a common means of communication across cultures and lingua franca. Also known as International English and Common English.
2. ESL or English as a second language : ESL is an English language study program for nonnative speakers.It used to teach students who used English as a formal language.
3. EFL or English as a foreign language : This is mainly used to talk about students (whose first language is not English) learning English while living in their own country.
4. EIL or English as an international language : It is taught in the school in almost every country on this earth. It used to teach in international school or university, which had many people from different cultures and country.
The hardest thing to learn in this article is to read in a terminology which I have no knowledge about it. However, the thing that made learning easier was working groups to share ideas with each other. But I have some friends didn't dare to comment, so I hope that next time they will be dare to express their views and participate in our group work more.
